January 6, 2012: Port Douglas, Australia to Sydney, Australia

G’day mates!

This morning we headed off to our last city of the trip—Sydney! We started the day by driving down to Cairns from Port Douglas. Previously we drove this during the night; however, most of the drive is along the coast, which makes for a very pleasant hour and a half drive. We filled our car with our last tank of petrol and went to the airport where Virgin Australia’s VH-VUV was waiting to take us down to Sydney. After a three hour flight we arrived in Sydney, got our luggage and picked up our public transit passes. We got on a train to the city (actually Surry Hills, but…) and checked into our last hotel (CRAZINESS!). After we settled in our hotel we set out to find some grub, which we did in The Rocks at a phenomenal local restaurant that had some of the best dessert ever…EVA…EVER and Nina had some of the “best Risotto” evA EVAAA! After dinner, we convinced Suzanne that a boat ride would be nice and went on a nice night cruise across Sydney Harbour to see Luna Park and Darling Harbour close up. Then we went home, caught up on some odds and ends, and crashed out.
