G’day matees!
Hey mommy, we went to a rainforest today! Port Douglas is located right at the doorstep of the Daintree Rainforest, so we exploring there today while in search of the elusive cassowary (which we didn’t find =o(). For breakfast we found a little café in Mossman which had awesome food. Then we set out for a couple hour hike through Mossman Gorge, where the trees, vines, and wildlife were incredible. It is amazing the noise that some animals make while being in complete silence…lol. Following this we headed up to grab some lunch at another local tea house, where the service, food, and environment were incredible. After our scrumptious lunch, we took a cruise up the Daintree River looking for crocodiles (we found two…a two year old baby and a larger adult croc). Then it was off across the Daintree River ferry to head to an aerial walkway and education center through the rainforest where we learned about the tons of different types of flora, fauna, and wildlife that could be in a rainforest (over 120 types of trees can be in one hectare!!). To wrap up the day we had some freshly made local ice cream…wattleseed, banana, soursap, and mango, and went to Cape Tribulation to watch the sun go down out over the Pacific Ocean. We then wrapped up the day in Port Douglas by grabbing some Mexican food (yes, we had Mexican food in Australia!), talking to family, doing laundry, and catching some shut eye.
