January 9, 2012: Sydney, Australia

G'day mates!

We went to the beach! We hopped on the Manly Ferry and headed to Manly (which, by the way, was very MANLY!) to check out their esplanade, see the beach, and put our feet in the water there. After the half hour ferry ride (with free Wi-Fi!) we arrived in Manly which had one of the coolest outdoor shopping areas along the esplanade I have seen. The esplanade led us to the beach, which was beautiful. Even though we didn't plan on swimming, Antja and myself had to put our feet in the water, so we did...and unlike the waters on the north side of Australia...it was COLD! There was also an announcement being broadcasted about a shark being sited about 45 minutes before our arrival...good thing we didn't plan on swimming. We shopped around the esplanade and went to a cafe for lunch before catching the ferry back to Circular Quay. Once at Circular Quay we went to an aboriginal art shop we saw on our first visit to Sydney to do some souvenir shopping. We then split into two groups and checked out various parts of the city...the CBD and shopping districts and Darling Harbour. Both of which were phenomenal. Reconvening for dinner in Darling Harbour, we ate some tapas and set out for our final cruise on Sydney Harbour under the Harbour Bridge and back to Circular Quay. Then it was home to pack and get a few ZZZZZZZZZZs before flying back to the States.
