G’day mates and Happy New Year!
Today we headed out to the outback. Our three hour flight from Sydney to Ayers Rock onboard Virgin’s VH-ZPM, an Embraer 190, elapsed fairly quickly and soon we were greeted with 100+ degree temperatures. After picking up our rental car, a manual four wheel drive SUV (which I must say, I did a good job transitioning from shifting on the right to shifting on the left…:0)), we checked into the Ayers Rock Resort. We then had a relaxing afternoon beating the heat by eating, checking out the shops in the resort, and chilling in our hotel room. In the evening, Antja and Nina attempted to go to the Sounds of Silence dinner; however, we decided to be in Ayers Rock during some of the freakiest weather they have seen…during sunset there was a crazy downpour, which unfortunately canceled their dinner. Despite their dinner getting canceled, Nina and Antja managed to have a great evening checking out the Tila Bar at the resort. Meanwhile Brad and Suzanne watched the sunset over Uluru while getting soaked and wrapped up the evening by eating a phenomenal pizza back in the hotel room.
